Just thinking.....

About the lovely day we had yesterday and how I wish we had turned around to get the camera left sitting on the kitchen counter. Owen and the ocean met, their friendship needs some time. On a happier note the sand and Owen are very good friends and he brought some home in every little crease and fold you could imagine. My husband's team won and he played very well, plus all teeth are still accounted for. All in all a steller weekend

Too fast

Owen's glove has become an attachment to his hand, but he hasn't quite learned that you use the glove to catch his beloved ball. I was so impressed with how smart my little O really is. First time I handed him the glove he put it on his left hand and fit his little fingers in the slots

Owen's eyes are sooo blue, like husky blue. He is looking at the planes, such amazement
this is a pre- hair cut picture, his little poof of hair was so sweet but looking a little rag-muffinsih

I was playing around with the saturation on this one, I think his shirt looks all dirty on the collar

He sure loves his Daddy, they are best buddies and make each other belly laugh, it warms my heart to watch them together!

Owen got his first hair cut last week. As much as I loved his little fro of blondie hair he needed a trim. He got his first baseball glove for being so good during the hair cut, and he mastered ready position for his future baseball career. He is growing up so fast and talking more and more each day. Just one more month until he can officially go to nursery, although he goes in with me now( its my calling) A few of my favorite new words are: bubble, keys, cookie, go, hippo, zebra, duck, woody, icky, doggy, and shoes. The binky has now been restricted to just bedtime if he absolutely needs it and we are hoping to have a binky -free boy very soon! I had a pretty knarly endodontic procedure done a week ago. One of my front laterals was really sensitive and I was honestly praying I wouldn't need the inevitable root canal that usually follows extreme cold sensitivity because I have crowns across the front and with my preferred DDS out of state I was really apprehensive to do anything to them. But I am one lucky girl and have the blessing of working for a really great endodontist who was able to do the apicoecotmy on my # 10 and leave my crown completely alone. Look up the surgery on google and it will show the whole kit and kaboodle. Its pretty bloody so be aware. On a much happier note summer time has has been good to us and with Brett starting his fall semester(& all that comes with him doing full time school and work) soon we are hoping to have one last hooray with new more exciting pictures, but enjoy these. I sure do love this little face!

Happy 4th of July

Yesterday was wonderful day, full of family, food, fun, and fireworks. I am truly grateful for all the freedoms we enjoy as citizens of this great nation and am forever indebted to the men and women who work so diligently and fought for those freedoms and privileges. Today at church we sang the Star Spangled Banner for our closing hymn and both Brett and I got choked up while singing it. Cameron, Brett's brother is in Afghanistan serving our country and we pray for his safety and quick return daily. The reality of Cameron being there hit home quite hard with us both and we had to take a few minutes to get ourselves together before Sunday School. I was playing the piano in primary and stayed to listen to sharing time, which was about the First Vision. I love listening to how kids perceive Joseph's experience and how willingly they accept it to be true. They know our Heavenly Father loves to help us and will answer our prayers, such a simple truth that so many in this world don't understand. I am thankful to have the restored gospel in my life and to be able to freely worship. The church always comes out with such beautiful commercials, enjoy this one and be grateful for your freedoms.................its not uploading, so go to lds.org and scroll down to the video

Week in Review

I feel like my week flew by and I am just now catching my breath! Work was work, teeth teeth and more teeth. Owen is attached to my side when I am home and I don't mind a bit. he is talking so much and tries so hard to communicate his needs and wants. He has added Bosty(BFF) basketball and two to his ever expanding list of words. I got Brett a "legit"( his words) door hanging basketball hoop and he and Owen can play together for hours. Its so sweet to watch them together! Julie took some awesome family pictures and I am extremely grateful for her talent and time. Grandma Ida Mae was in town for a visit and Owen has made a new friend. He would give her loves, blow kisses and liked to hold her hand. She is so sweet and an awesome yathzee player! We wish she lives closer. I have started Atkins and am 6 days into induction. I feel better, I am sleeping so much better and I know giving up sugar and bad carbs will help get rind of this pregnancy chub. I have learned I am very strict with myself when I get my mind set straight. I walked down the cracker/chips/cookie isle at the grocery store today just to test myself. Proud to say didn't even flinch! Ask me again in ninety days!

I survived!

I completed a long week of work and am so happy to have the weekend to spend some time with my O and Brett. I worked at the store this morning and we were hoppin busy! Some people are just so silly and have no idea what they want but are adamant that what I may be suggesting to not be what they are looking for at all. Make a decision already. Owen's great Grandma Ida Mae Romm is in town and Julie was so kind to take Anderson family pictures this afternoon. She did a fabulous job and I know my in laws were very grateful for her help last minute. Brett's older brother Cameron is back from training,he leaves for Afghanistan in a week, so we took the opportunity to have a family picture taken. Owen just got his first legit hair cut and I was so happy he didn't have any cuts or bruises. He is a true boy and usually bonks his head or runs into something daily. Well I spoke too soon and on our way out to the car he picked up his usual three pine cones but for one reason or another he tripped and got a nice goose egg right on his forehead, thank goodness for photo shop. He was such a trooper the whole day and in true coons' family fashion took some sweet pictures and hammed it up to the camera! I am excited to see my little pun-kin head! I will post the picture soon.
ps I am going to take the position at the specialist office and I feel good about my decision. I feel very blessed and watched over :)

Teeth teeth and more teeth

I got a job. I had been looking for quite a while and was getting very discouraged with the whole situation. The school district had two gears-slow and ubber slow. Things were not coming together quickly at all and everytime I made the trek down to the main office to physically talk to them instead of the a phone call I was told all the information I had recieved on the phone was incorrect! WHAT?? Inconsistency is so wrong. So after a few hard blows to the my optimism I decide I would try teeth once again. Don't get me wrong I love teeth, they are fascinating to me plus I am comfortable with them and all their oddities. After I had a few interesting interviews--none of which I felt very good about, mainlt because they all grilled me about DII and what happens there. If they only knew the truth I think the bubble DII lives in would burst! My first instinct was to call some of the specialists Dad had referred to for so many years but I didn't want to ride on the coat tails of my dad, stupid I know, networking is the way we all help one another make it through this life. On a whim I called a dentist to see if he was hiring and he was, he got my name and number and told me he would be in contact in a few weeks. I continued to look and had got a work interview with an office literally two minutes from my home. The day was long and hectic not to mention the dentist was sooooooo sloooooooooww. Three hours for a crown prep---come on! The whole day I thought about how wonderful my job at SVFD was and how I missed the atmosphere there and the patients ,co-workers and especially the boss. At the end of the day I was offered a position there. I felt good about the situation especially since I had recieved a message from the specialist stating he hadn't hired anyone yet and that change was going to happen he just wan't sure when. SO thinking the intial job with specialist was not going to happen any time soon I took the job with Lake Mead Dental and had my second day there today. BUT guess who called while at work today the specialist with a job offer ! What am I going to do? I can't get a job to save my life for three months and nowI have two sitting in my lap, each with pros and cons! I have about 12 hours to make a decision and not a whole lot of clarity as to what I should do---Sugesstions anyone?

15 months

Big "cheese" smiles

Jump house with daddy @penelope's party

Owen &Bosty @her recital (he was done with pictures for the day)

My little boy is really a toddler now. We walked to our park this morning and as soon as we got there he practically jumped out of the stroller and ran his little legs as fast as possible to the jungle gym. He also gave me his beloved binki with no hesitation and we are trying to get rind of the bink within the next few weeks, but I just love his little facial expressions with the binki. We'll see how that goes! His personality his so sweet and he makes me laugh daily. Owen has become very fond of Winnie the Pooh and carries him every where, if I ask him where is pooh is he'll get a little confused and either point to his diaper(a bit to much info--sorry) or his runs to find his pooh bear. He tells me "uh-oooo" if he drops something or has thrown one of his balls somewhere he can't reach and still thinks anyone shorter than mama is a "bebe". He is trying really hard to mimic what we say to him and he knows how to shake is pointer finger and say nonononono! I need to watch how much I say no these days.He loves to give kisses and with his molars cutting rigth now they sure are drooly kisses but kisses all the same. Thanks to the Seasame street books we have read practically every day of his life, he knows where his eyes, ears, mouth, nose, toes, fingers and belly button are. Be careful if he goes after your belly button, the little guy doen't know his own strength and digs his fingers pretty deep. We aren't sure if he is a lefty or a righty, he throws things with both and eats with both. People tell us all the time we have a little football player and he sure eats like one. He eats everything and likes to help you finish your meal as well! I love this little guy so much! He fills my life with sunshine.

Wouldn't this be nice?

I have been spoiled, I admit that openly. As a single gal I was lucky enough to go to Hawaii 5 times as a pseudo- nanny with a fabulous family. My duties were to braid the girls hair, sunblock them well and hang out on this beach all day. Tough I know. It was surreal and when I need some peace I think of that lovely beach. My point of this post, while looking through my emails I came across this deal. Unbelievable, this place was re-done completely and is beautiful inside and out. Now if only the flights weren't $800!

ps Our little family went to a birthday party for a co-worker's baby on Nellis and Lamb(yikes) and had a fabulous time. A few words to describe the party: Jump house, Roach Coach, Horses and guachos, and loving that I understood the heavily intoxicated aunt spilling too much info sitting behind us. I will post tomorrow- promise

Thank you ghetto car wash

This morning on our errands run, Owen and I stopped at the drive-in, squirt your car as fast as you can and scrub it down with the same vigor while hoping you don't run out of quarters with soap still on the car, car wash. He was an angel sitting in his car seat and laughing at me squirting the car down. But what really made this an enjoyable trip to the car wash was the lovely latin lady blarring cumbia music from her astro van and dancing around her car while washing it. I had not heard true cumbia since argentina and the shshshshsh sound made washing the jeep all the more fun. Plus who doens't love them an astro van, ours had a serious personality.Try and get that kind of entertainment in summerlin!

101st post!

Just a update on everthing that has gone on since we have been internet-less. These are some of my favorite pictures and blogging about all the events over the past month and a half won't get done, so I'll just do a quick review
Grandma and Grandpa leaving for the mission field, Owen asks for them daily and we look at their pictures daily as well. We miss them some much already but are so proud of their decision to serve! Way to go Elder and Sister Coons. They are serving in Nauvoo Illinois at the beautiful temple there. We have spoken to them many times and they have already planted flowers, a garden and found a Sam's club. I love my parents.

Owen's first ears complete with his name on the back. He loved Disneyland! Kids, Churros and a life sized Mickey Mouse were a few of his favorites. We went with Brett's family and had a great time. I love Disneyland and it was even more magical with my Owen. He met Pooh bear and gave him a big kiss and clapped along with the music during the parade. Nothing beats the tired feeling of walking aroung the magic kingdom all day!

Owen was singing along to the radio and would pose for me so I could capture this silly moment. I have about 10 pictures of him pulling funny faces. His 8 little teeth make me smile daily, he is a biter and no matter how hard I try to be the serious mom and tell him no biting, I still giggle every now and then when I he gives me a nibble!

Owen's first birthday, complete with blue frosting and a crown. I think he really like the blue cupcakes!

Finally

We are a connected family once again! Yipeeee I was getting a little restless with all the computer issues we had been having but no complaints now, just smooth sailing, Hopefully...
Owen is one, and walking/swaying everywhere. A few days after his birthday I was summoned to the family room with a shreek of joy coming from a very excited daddy. Owen had walked across the room, and I had a near heart attack when brett screamed my name, I high tailed it out just to see my little trooper drop to the ground. He has gotten so fast its incredible, and he likes shoes so much he wants them on all day, every day. He thinks every toy or object is a ball and asks for it with his little chubby hand stretched way out.He also loves both his grandpas so much that when I am on the phone he starts saying pumpa pumpa pumpa and reaching for the phone. Its quite amusing and it tugs at my heart strings too, knowing my own dad is so far away. But he does love his Grandpa Kurt and everyone else including mama is chopped liver compared to him. As a whole my blog is lacking so many pictures is almost unbearable to think about. Oh well I'll think about that tomorrow. Happy National Scrapbooking day!

Owen and Utahna

Today is Owen's first birthday, he was born on my Nanny's birthday. My nanny is my Mom's mom and we never called her grandma, it was always nanny and today I miss her alot. I am really grateful to be a mom and to have such wonderful mother myself. The past year has flown by and when I think about all the little moments of pure joy Owen has brought I get really choked up. There are very few things in life that can get any better than an adorable blonde baby boy reach his chubby little arms out and say Mama! He is such a smart little boy. I love to watch him discover new things and get excited about them. He is so close to walking, he needs a bit more balance and he'll be running. We went to the park today, nothing beats Las Vegas spring time weather. He loves the swings, slides and climbing anything and everything! We had a dinner party at my parents to celebrate both Bostyn and Owen's birthdays. It was a great day full of happy memories, family and some yummy food. I have some great videos and pics from the birthday celebrations, so just as soon as I can upload them, i'll be posting! Big thanks to all for their generousity!

Friday...... time for a bath

When I was in college my sister and I would joke around about taking baths on Fridays and say it in the voice of the little boy from Life is Beautiful, I was giving Owen a bath a few minutes ago and I laughed outloud about that making my Owen laugh too, no one else will get the humor but it was a moment with my little boy I would like to remember. Owen is two and a half weeks from turning 1! I amazed at how much he grows up each day. He loves his bath and now lays on his tummy and kicks his little chubby legs really hard, its so sweet to see the rolls just bouncing around in the water. He has finally started calling Brett, dada again. It was touch and go for a while there, he would only call him bett and I know his daddy missed the dada repeated many many times throughout the day. I got a good laugh but love to hear dada as well. We are trying to plan a small party for him but with a majority of both our families here thats not going to happen.Suggestions are welcome. Brett and I went to Brian Head, it was so great to be with him all day long!I can still snowboard, I took a little time off and was a bit nervous going up the lift but hey it was like riding a bike and I loved every freezing minute!

ps My Birthday and Valentines day were great, I was spoiled and enjoyed some time with my husband. Owen has a new cousin whom he loves already, Avery Leigh Moore our little valentine, is here safe and sound.

Disbelif

I am in disbelief. My little baby boy in one month will turn one. I has a crazy dream last night and I dream in Spanish so my English always struggles the next day. Just then I wanted to type "completed his first year" but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense in English. So Owen is 11 months. I shed a few tears thinking about how fast the past year has flown by. He is so sweet and I am so grateful for him. A few people know how much finding out I was pregnant with him rocked my world. We were not planning on having a little one so soon after getting married and I cried and took five tests before Brett could calm me down. How in the world were we going to do this and with what money? But like many before us, everything has worked out. Brett had fabulous insurance that would cover maternity care when my stupid Health Plan of Nevada wouldn't so we figure Owen was less than a thousand dollars all said and done. Can't beat that. He has been a little angel baby and is growing into a classic little boy. He loves to climb on people, furniture, boxes the trash can just about anything and will find a way to conquer it. He talks non stop and likes to say mama in a really nice whine after I tell him no or take him away from something. I turn 29 tomorrow, yep the end of my twenties, they were good to me. I have some cute pics to post so stay tuned!

Dance Party ------Owen likes Toto

While cleaning out my closet this morning Owen was in his crib looking at books--or throwing them out and laughing. I had turned up Itunes and when Africa by toto came on Owen was thrilled. The little guy stood up and sang along and danced! I laughed out loud, so for all your listening pleasure enjoy this and get up and have a little dance party. We enjoy them quite alot in this home
ps He also enjoyed Dance by Lady GaGa

10 months

Owen had a wonderful December and January is turning out just as great. Full of cousins lots of parties and Santa and the Grandparents were really good to our sweet boy. Eliza got him the cutest Little people noah' s ark that he just loves! He carries Noah and a giraffe around the house with him and can get a bit protective of them in the bathtub. He has just started to cut his third tooth on top left hand side. The boy can bite and leaves his marks on just about everyone and everything. He sings and dances in the car to any music and during hymns at church, loves to give kisses and yell mama & dada into his monitor while jumping in his crib, can twist, dive and crawl so fast and with such momentum he has a few bruises on his forehead to prove it and loves his new baseball and bat. He is walking with the little wood cart and gets so excited when he sees us jumping up and down and getting so excited for him, its a riot. Owen also loves other kids , he reaches for them, tries to give everyone kisses and thinks they enjoy being followed everywhere. Thankfully his cousins don't mind him so much, in fact on Christmas Eve Mariah asked Kelly, pointing to me, "Can you ask her if we can keep baby Owen? "Our little guy is such a dumpling, we will keep him. But Mariah you are welcome to visit anytime! Uncle Tom was holding him the other day and mentioned how you really do get strong baby arms holding lifting and carrying a 29 pounder everyday, just wish I could lose some more of this chub to show those guns I have developed. BIG Loves to all
Happy friday to ya!

Quite a bit later......

So Christmas season has come and gone and I have to say this one was one for the books! Where to start I am so far behind in posts, our computer went a bit haywire and is still acting funny at times but at least we can connect to the Internet now! OK first off Brett, Owen, Auntie Emily, Grandma Shelley and Grandpa Kurt and I had a wonderful time at the Magical Forest. It was cold but Owen liked being all wrapped up in blankets and his favorite doggy hat. We got to see Santa, ride the train and the carousel. Owen was so cute on the carousel, he laughed and smiled the whole time!

Christmas pre-eve we had a fabulous party at Jillian and Drew's home complete with great tamales, the name game and a webcam chat with the Burdetts. We all had a wonderful time together with the Trythall would had driven from California to be here. ( sorry no pictures for that event)
Christmas Eve Mom and Dad once again got the party started! A classic family photo --of which we were late to, I was sick and spent most of the night drinking water and bathroom runs---and I think I passed it to multiple family members--so sorry, back to the events of the evening during dinner the doorbell rang and we heard carolers singing. I thought it was their neighbors or the Waids but NOPE it was the HOPKIN FAMILY all the way from TEXAS!!! It was a Christmas gift like no other and I was so happy to meet the twinkies and have Owen meet his closest cousins, only 3 months younger.

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.
